Arslanbob is a peaceful town located in Western Kyrgyzstan. The people here are predominantly ethnically Uzbek and more religiously conservative than other parts of the country. The area is most famed for its extensive walnut forests, which are the largest in the world. There are number of local legends about these forests, with one claiming that Alexander the Great took seeds from Arslanbob and spread them in Europe over 2,000 years ago. There are also some scenic waterfalls, and some lovely panoramic viewpoints which can also be visited in this area.
