Highlights of North Kyrgyzstan
Almost all visitors to Kyrgyzstan will spend at least a day or two in the capital city Bishkek. Although nobody visits Kyrgyzstan solely for its cities, Bishkek is a pleasant place to start or end your tour, with some fascinating Soviet architecture and access to the beautiful Ala-Archa National Park. Head east outside Bishkek towards Lake Issyk-Kul, and you will arrive at Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic historical landmark – the striking Burana Tower. Not far away is the gorgeous Chon Kemin Valley, a lovely place to stop at a guesthouse for a day or two and enjoy some gentle walking or horse-riding.

The capital and largest city in Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek has a laid-back atmosphere and an abundance of green spaces, making it an ideal start or end point for a Silk Road adventure.
The gorgeous Chon Kemin Valley is located to the east of Bishkek, and it is a very picturesque place to break up your journey from the capital city to Lake Issyk-Kul or Lake Son-Kul.
