Indonesia Passport & Visa Information

What passport and visa do I need to visit Indonesia?

Passports
It is a requirement of the Indonesian Government that British visitors to Indonesia possess a valid 10-year passport and that the passport has at least six months validity from the date you intend to depart from Indonesia. Your passport must also have at least two blank pages. Please ensure your passport complies with the above well in advance of travel. If you do not have a British passport, please contact the Indonesian Embassy to find out what regulations apply: kemlu.go.id/london/en.

Visas
Visa requirements can change at any time, so it is essential that all travellers check the latest guidance for Indonesia on the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) website for up-to-date information: gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/indonesia/entry-requirements.

British passport holders do require a visa for entry into Indonesia. You can either apply online for an Electronic Visa (E-VOA) up to 14 days prior to arrival, through the Indonesian immigration website: evisa.imigrasi.go.id/, or obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA), available at most of Indonesia’s major international airports and seaports. A 30-day single entry tourist visa costs 500,000 Indonesian rupiah per person and payment can be made by credit card, in local currency, US dollars or GB pounds. We recommend applying for the E-VOA before departure, which will save you time queuing for a visa on arrival.

If you intend to stay longer than 30 days, you will need to apply for an extension visa from the Indonesian Embassy in London, please contact: kemlu.go.id/london/en. Alternatively, a single entry visa can be extended at the local immigration office in Indonesia for a fee. Please note there can be hefty fines for overstaying your visa. You may also be asked for proof of onward travel on arrival, so do ensure you have a return or onward air ticket to hand should this be required.

If you are staying in private accommodation in Indonesia (for example not in a hotel), you must register at a local police station on arrival. If you are staying in a hotel you will be registered automatically.

Electronic customs declaration
All travellers must complete an electronic customs declaration form online. We recommend that you complete the form before you arrive in Indonesia and this can be done up to three days in advance: ecd.beacukai.go.id/cdonline.html. Once completed you will receive a QR code, which may need to be presented to customs officials on arrival. The form can also be completed online at one of the computer terminals provided at most major airports, once you have arrived in
Indonesia.
